This new baby Merc roadster, the star of many recent motor shows, is now available in the U.S. and Canada as the SLK230 Kompressor. The Kompressor, German for compressor, means the engine is supercharged. This stylish roadster competes with the BMW Z3 and the Porsche Boxster, both of which have raised considerable excitement. The engine in the SLK driving the rear wheels is a 191 horsepower2.3-liter supercharged four. The roadster features ultra strong carbon fiber material for the interior, black on white instruments, traction control and an off-switch for the passenger airbag.
